This September 22 (my birthday) =) I was asked by Kelly Gooley, United Way’s Resource Development Associate, to volunteer my services for United Way’s Day of Caring. Day of Caring is an event that celebrates the spirit of volunteerism and serves as the launch to their yearly campaign. Day of Caring also offers volunteers and donors the opportunity to see firsthand the needs and essential services provided by UWGLV and Lehigh Valley agencies. Up to the challenge, my job was to capture volunteer groups from companies around the Valley (i.e. PPL, Air Products, Victaulic, just to name a few) participating in the Day of Caring. I had the pleasure to work with Kelly and her associate, Miguel. We had 24 stops on our list. It was a tough demand considering traffic congestion, road detours, and well you can’t capture volunteers working when they are on lunch. In addition, some places closed by 2:00p.m. but we hustled and fit in 14-16 stops. The weather held up and it was a fun day. Being in the company of Kelly and Miguel was, lets just say, fun & entertaining! I’m glad to have had the opportunity to witness volunteerism, caring individuals and people uniting for common good was refreshing and satisfying. Thank you, United Way of Lehigh Valley. We need more of it! I’d also like to thank Kelly for surprising me with donuts and a birthday card for my birthday. =)
Here are just a few images from that day.
